Jus so we dont forget some of their achievements:
Sad day in Pop (14 Jan)
Busted have today announced that in light of Charlie Simpson’s departure they will be splitting up.
Over the last two years James Bourne, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis have become household names. Busted have had eight top three hits including four number ones. Both Busted albums, 2002’s Busted and 2003’s A Present For Everyone, have clocked up over 1 million sales each.
Busted won Best Pop Act and Best Breakthrough Act at the 2004 BRIT awards and they were nominated for Best British Group. Most recently they topped the charts with the theme to the Thunderbirds movie, which was voted Record Of The Year.
In the course of their career Busted have sold out 50 UK arenas including 12 Wembley shows, consolidating their position as the biggest and best pop act in the UK.
Matt, Charlie and James say:
Matt Willis: “It’s a really sad day for all of us but we’ve always said that if one member left then we’d call it a day. The last three years have been unbelievable and I’d like to say a massive thank you to all our fans- you’ve been amazing.”
Charlie Simpson: “I’m incredibly proud of everything that we’ve achieved in Busted. We’ve enjoyed some of the best times in our lives together. I wouldn’t change one single bit of it. This has been a really difficult decision and I hope the fans will understand”
James Bourne: “I’m devastated that Charlie has chosen to quit Busted, but I have to respect his decision and I fully support him and wish him all the best for the future. I would like to say a personal thank you to all the fans who have made the last three years the best years of my life. I’ll remember these years forever.”
Wembley says:
Thank you, Busted for being our Band of the Year and congratulations on winning the whatsonwembley.com public vote for the Best Show of 2004. We are all very sorry to hear the news but would like to thank you for the 12 amazing concerts last year and wish you all the very best for the future.

Bust up! (13 Jan)
So we’ve all heard the rumours. And, it’s starting to look like they may be true (sorry Busted fans!).
Charlie is said to be leaving the band and Busted may be on the verge of splitting up. Charlie has never hidden the fact that he wishes Busted played less pop and he's made no secret of how much he hates the boy band tag.
But according to Busted’s record company it's all completely untrue and they'll be bringing out a new album next year. Fightstar, Charlie's side project, have announced plans for a two month UK tour but Busted are expected to reconvene in due course.
So, for now at least, the question remains: is the Wembley Arena 2004 Band of the Year splitting up or not? It’s hard to believe that after such an amazing year that our favourite pop trio may be calling it a day. Busted performed an incredible 12 shows in 12 month and still left us all begging for more – so our plead to the boys is to give us some good news and thwart the rumours once and for all.
Email us with your thoughts and feelings about the rumoured split at webmaster@wembley.co.uk and we’ll post a few of them on our message board.
In the meantime – keep checking here for updates. And if we hear anything… we’ll let you know!
