Cert: 12A Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, Ralph Fiennes, Miranda Richardson, Brendan Gleeson, Alan Rickman, Robert Pattinson Director: Mike Newell Five-Second Summary: Harry Finds himself entered into the Triwizard cup and facing terrible dangers once more
Full Review Harry Potter has come of age. This, the fourth film in the series, is more grown up than its predecessors and is all the better for it. Earning itself a 12A certificate, it even manages to be properly scary.
The action kicks off in spectacular style with the Quidditch world cup and straight away you are struck by how much the special effects have improved. The stadium looks like it has a capacity of about two million and is at once convincing and spectacular. After the event is cut short by an invasion of Death Eaters (wizards who have turned evil and follow Lord Voldermort), the decision is made to put an age limit of 17 on the Trwizard cup: an inter-school tournament. Harry, being just 14, is not allowed to enter but the magical Goblet of Fire comes up with his name nonetheless. The competition consists of various dangerous tasks and all the while suspicion grows that Voldermort’s power is rising.
The Goblet Of Fire is very much the Empire Strikes Back of the Harry Potter series. It begins with a retreat (the Quidditch World Cup) and ends with a showdown where, well, if you haven’t read the books I’m not going to spoil it for you.
Director Mike Newell (Four Weddings And A Funeral) might have seemed a strange choice to helm such a special effects laden film, but he does a cracking job by making sure the performances are right and gets a respectable performance out of Daniel Radcliffe. There is still something a bit Grange Hill about Rupert Grint’s portrayal of Ron Weasley but he has improved and gets a quite a few laughs. New to Hogwarts is Brendan Gleeson who steals pretty much every scene he is in as the gruesome looking Professor Moody.
The story just works better with Harry and chums being older. It allows for more oomph in the action but also for more emotion, especially in the adolescent romance department. Harry is brave when it comes to battling dragons but crippled by fear when it comes to asking a girl to the school disco.
The film is awash with dazzling sequences which carry a more heightened sense of jeopardy than before. Although the climax featuring Ralph Fiennes as Voldermort will inspire many a nightmare, the most stunning sequence of the film is when Harry is set upon by ‘merpeople’ and a swarm of octopuses as he tries to rescue his friends underwater.
Verdict: The most mature, frightening, exciting and emotional Harry Potter film yet.

Saw it the day it was released! Booked my tix with my mates from coll at 3.30 came out at twenty past six and there was a HUGE and i mean HUGE que waiting to go in for the sold out after six screenings. Me, my mates Steph and Emma and her sister were laughing; "We've already seen it!" Overall- Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire is absolutely mindblowing the best film yet- no words can describe it. Absolute perfect. And when Cedric dies It's so sad- i wanted to hug Daniel cause he was sobbing over his body Great film though (Y) *coughs*

saw it and some people, example: Adele basically said it was "blah" when Cedric died. But I think its very powerful and moving. God, I cried, i admit that. And its like in the book, he just gets killed, its as simple as that. It was terrible I hated it when Harry was over his body and his dad saw -sigh- fkn, i dont want to see the film again The dance was good, i thought the place would be a lot bigger looking ;D as the amount of students, but then it wasnt all of them was it, or i dont know ;D but Hermione, the pretty biatch looked so stunning. Ron was great, he gets better with every film ;D and the whole competition was amazing. It's my favourite book, and film. Although, i dont want to see the film again for a while, as it really got me upset Draco was a right stunner
