Received this fro Sanja:
It´s from Mail on Sunday mag,
and Emma talks about her and Matt´s relationship.
Emma couldn't have picked a more complicated relationship if she
tried. "You don't know whats going to happen in life" she says
supportively "I would never have thought I I'd end up with Matt, and
I never thought Matt would go through this When I first met him two
years ago, I just dismissed him as a boy band person. Then I slowly
got to know him as a friend and a drinking buddy, it went on from
there.
I'm really glad about it, because I've got this incredible person
in my life. What he is doing and going through right now makes me
respect him so much. It's all happened very fast and we're right in
the middle of it, so there's a lot that hasn't even sunk in. All I
know is I feel so proud of him. He's doing something that is very
tough at the most difficult time in his life, but he is doing the
right thing.
Emma was in Marbella with a girl friend when Matt called her and
told her he needed to get help. They had been together for just 5
months, and she was completely shocked by his admission. "I'd been
speaking to him three or four times a day since I'd been in Spain,
and he seemed OK. Then he called me and said "Emma, I think I've got
a drink problem and I need to sort it out"
Yes he did drink a lot, but then he was a 21 year old guy working
in the music business. It goes with the territory. I never thought he
had a problem. But Matt did. What concerned him was that, if he
didn't do something at this point, it was just going to get worse.
People talk about age difference, but Matt is more mature than
most men I have met in their forties. He takes responsibility for
himself. I wanted to be there for him and support him in anyway I
could. I came home the very next day so I could drive him to the
priory.
He has had to deal with so much negativity in the press, and he
just wants to be the best he can. My family are incredibly protective
about him, coz they know exactly what he has been up against and so
do I.
What we are going through isn't easy, but as far as the
relationship is concerned its never a fight to make it work. Matt is
sweet and caring, and one of the few men I've met who always puts
others first.
Then it talks about her life then back to Matt…
"I really liked Matt, but I was in a relationship and it was only
ever as a friend.
It is telling that Busted's star was pretty much burnt out by the
time Emma realised there was more to their friendship. Busted went
from School yard heros to media joke in just a few years.
"he still comes out with me when I'm with friends, but I do watch
him. I'll jump up and go to the bar if he says he'll get the drinks.
The other day he told me he really wanted a glass of beer. It was a
hot sunny day and he just said he felt like a pint. I was worried but
knew he wasn't going to do anything. What he needs from me is just to
know that I am there for him, which I am, and that I believe in him,
which I do
At this point Willis joins us, He has been waiting several hours for
Emma and felt he had overstayed his welcome at the coffee shop across
the road. There's no lovey-dovey display of hugs and kisses, but he
rather touchingly clutches her hand and she turns to look at him with
a smile. You just have to hope it works out.
