Hey,
Matt was guest writing a collum in todays Daily Star... In it he reveals his drug-taking past, how his girlfriend Emma helped him over come it, his views on Blunt and Robbie, and what he's currently listening to... Hope you like..
Emma's saved me
I'm clear of drugs thanks to her love
Everyone has heard about my spell in rehab over booze. But here's something you didn't know - it was my lovely girlfriend who finally got me off drugs. Without her I don't think I'd be here now with the opportunity to make something of myself. I caned it totally until she finally put her foot down and forced me to face up to things.
I'd been a big weed smoker most of my life - since at least 14. I loved it. I started seeing Emma Griffths and I was still a heavy smoker and she couldn't stand it. It ruind our social life because I was stoned all the time. I'd forget things. She'd ring and shout at me saying I'd arranged to meet her and mates at various places and I'd just be in my flat cabbaged.
Paranoia started to become a massive problem. I used to get really scared of what people thought of me when I was stoned - which was all the time. Emma was always on at me to stop, but it was too much a part of my life. But at the end of last year she finally snapped and said:"You're going to have to stop smoking or..." That was it. I gave it up at New Year and now I don't miss it at all. Towards the end I was just getting really, really wasted.
I am so grateful for Emma. She gave me the courage to face life.

So afraid of failure
I've thought about failure lots. I **** myself every night about it. I can't do anything else. I can't act, I can't dance, I'm not clever enough for work. This is it. You don't get two shots. Going solo you don't get another chance. This is my one shot and if it fails I'm ****.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When being Up All Night's no fun
I don't talk about it much, but I did have a massve problem sleeping. For yearsI could never get to sleep. I've been diagnosed with a form of insomnia. I've got tablets but I don't take them because they send me mad. We started writing about that, and that's how my single Up All Night came about.
My Personal life was on display anyway, so I didn't find it hard to write lyrics and songs about my life. It wasn't painful. Unlike trying to lose weight, which is killing me. I spent all of last year eating kebabs and drinking beer.

MATT on BLUNT
Hmmm, James Blunt. There's so much said about him because he has been so successful. I haven't met him myself, but I've heard he's supposed to be a really nice guy. But that song of his, Three Wise Men, I really can't stand. He's just sung it like a dick. His phrasing is just so annoying on that song. He just pisses me off.

Matt's Fave Bands
This is who I'm listening to at the moment
Head Automatica: They're **** amazing. I loved the last album. A friend of mine works at their label and he's just sent me the new one.
Artic Monkeys: I went to see them the other week. They're a band everyone likes and so do I. They're absolutley awesome. I kind of said hello to the bass player. I don't think he was very interested.
Fall Out Boy: They're a great band. They're on my label. I'm going to meet them tonight.
Slipknot: I got their live album. Immense. It makes you want to laugh, jump up and down and fight them.
Andy C: Nightlife. I'm a bit of a drum'n'bass boy.

MATT on ROBBIE
People have said I'm the next Robbie Williams, but what people have to remember is he's a megastar. He's the biggest thing to come out of Britain. i haven't even sold a record yet. In four years if I've sold 20million albums you might be able to compare us. I don't deserve that title yet. I think he's wicked. Even in Busted we all had different tastes, but we all agreed he was amazing.
