I am posting this - not because I want to cause any problems but someone is going to see it and comment.
I dont think James or Matt will revel in it.
And well done Charlie for getting into the top 100 with his first release.
Anyway they might be wrong about the chart position. I have been unable to get hold of a copy on line or in my hmv record store - so some one is obviuosly buying it.
I guess they may have soem for sale at their gigs.
Anyways here it is from the Sun:
Why note beg, Charlie? Limping into the charts ... Charlie BUSTED’s JAMES BOURNE and MATT WILLIS finally have something to smile about. Former bandmate CHARLIE SIMPSON’s single with new band FIGHTSTAR — They Liked You Better When You Were Dead — is due to chart at a pathetic No73 on Sunday.

I have it and anyway he doesnt want a "fantastic" chart position becuase he's said he doesnt give a toss about the charts. Its all about the music and playing live

I don't think they undestand that Charlie doesn't care what position he gets to.

so you know this is sales figures, the EP cant actually chart because it's to long. And of course Victoria Newton wants some news to make it seem big.
and Universal are being tw@ts about distributing it, and lots of stores havent got ep's, or not enough, which is why i havent got mine. grrrrrrrr
but yeah, they didnt give a sh!t.

I spoke with Holly last night who filled me on on the reason for the so called "chart" position. The EP is purposely not chart eligible - they didnt want it to go in the charts. They want it to be low key underground. Then I found this on the fightstar site and it explains it all.
FIGHTSTAR have also been in the Sun and various other press today, with an article saying that they’ve only sold 236 copies of the EP so far and it’s only getting to #73 in the charts. Which is complete and utter BULLnuts.
Mr Dan had this to say:
Here are the facts:
- Our E.P is deliberately chart in-eligible meaning that we never wanted it to chart no matter how many it sold.
- There are only 1000 limited edition 2 track Vinyl records printed and thats it. Through some kind of thingy-up this ended up being chart eligible.
+ The E.P sold roughly 3500 units on the first day… meaning that if it had been chart eligible we would have debuted at No. 9 in the charts.
+ Selling roughly half the total stock of the Vinyl on the first day… and ending up in the charts is quite funny. Everyone enjoy the wonderful tabloids.
So a HUGE thanks to all you guys that bought the record… it’s quite frankly an astonishing result for everyone involved! Which essentially all adds up to us being in a position to invent you guys a better next record.
